In 2025, CONCORDIA supported 21,371 children, young people and families. Behind this figure are people who often suffer from poverty, exclusion and precarious living conditions. And behind every act of support lies a goal: to ensure that children can grow up safely, learn, build trust and shape their own lives.
The new impact report shows how CONCORDIA works in Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Kosovo and Austria. It highlights the tangible impact of our support. In families. In schools. In day centres. And in political decision-making processes.

2025 at a glance
CONCORDIA has been working to help children in need for 35 years. More than 550 staff members support children, young people and families in places where help is most urgently needed.
21.371
children, young people and adults were able to receive direct support through our services.

hot meals and snacks were prepared for children and young people in need.

aid packages containing food, hygiene products and other essentials were distributed to families living in poverty.
Measuring impact
2025 is an important year for CONCORDIA. For the first time, we are using five clear criteria to measure the impact of our support for children, young people and families.
1. Boost your well-being
In the 2025 survey, 94% of 633 children reported feeling well.
2. Ensuring educational success
98% of the 1,088 children and young people surveyed in our programmes successfully completed the school year.
3. Enabling self-determination
69% of the young adults surveyed who are no longer receiving support from CONCORDIA say that they now lead independent lives.
4. Ensuring child protection
100% of reported child protection cases are investigated in accordance with clear procedures, monitored and, where necessary, followed up with specific measures.
5. Increase reach
In 2025, we reached 21,371 people. Of these, 7,871 received intensive support and 13,500 were supported through low-threshold services.
These key figures help to make our impact visible and comparable. They do not merely show how many people we reach; they also demonstrate whether children’s lives are actually changing.
This is particularly evident when it comes to education. More than 98% of the children and young people we support have successfully completed the school year. This is encouraging, as education is one of the most important keys to breaking the vicious cycle of poverty.
At the same time, we know that figures alone never tell the whole story. Behind every statistic is a child with hopes, worries and their own strengths. That is why we combine figures with genuine feedback, conversations and real-world experiences.
Practical experience becomes a political voice
CONCORDIA does not just provide direct on-the-ground support. We are also committed to bringing about structural change. After all, child poverty is not an individual misfortune. It has causes that must be addressed politically and socially. That is why we have stepped up our political work in recent years. We draw on our experience from five countries to develop policy recommendations. The aim is to embed children’s rights, prevention and long-term support more firmly in political decision-making. In doing so, we collaborate with ministries, authorities, networks and partner organisations.
We also contribute our experience at European level. Our petition “Stop Child Poverty” calls for greater investment in prevention and children’s rights in the EU budget for 2028 to 2034. Furthermore, we participate in debates on the EU Child Guarantee and the Multiannual Financial Framework.
CONCORDIA Academia: Sharing knowledge, enhancing quality

Effective social work requires well-trained professionals. That is why CONCORDIA Academia is a vital part of our organisation. CONCORDIA Academia is the regional learning centre for excellence and innovation. It supports professionals and organisations in the social, social care and education sectors across Central and Eastern Europe.
In 2025, 491 people took part in practical learning activities. 170 organisations were supported in developing their work and offering better services to vulnerable communities. 20 active partnerships were established and strengthened. 40 participants took part in 15 study tours.
The services range from training and supervision to coaching, innovation and cross-sectoral collaboration. In this way, CONCORDIA does not merely empower individual professionals. The impact extends further. It improves organisations, social services and entire support systems.
