Father Georg Sporschill SJ came to Bukarest in 1991 to help stray children.
Over the course of the last years, a simple yet clear educational concept has been developed. The children are accompanied through six stages, during which they are led on the path to independence. Our streetwork-team approaches children on the street and invites them to come along. The social centre St. Lazarus in Bukarest is the first contact point for stray children. There, they learn all about simple rules for communal living.
In the CONCORDIA children’s homes, former stray children and those from broken or socially deprived homes find a new place to live. The young adults receive an education in our training workshops and the CONCORDIA trade school. They live in residential communities and are led on the path to independence.
Former residents team up at Club CONCORDIA and pass on what they have received, acting as friends and mentors.
